the saddest story ever told

Ok, so I'm upset that Nick got knocked off of Project Runway, but can we please take a moment to acknowledge the single most upsetting moment of the night...

WINNER of GRAMMY: Record of the Year is...

I know a lot of people get confused by this...
Record of the Year = Award for TRACK, goes to artist and producers, mixers, etc.
Album of the year = Award for ALBUM to the Artist(s), Album Producer(s), Recording Engineer(s)/Mixer(s) & Mastering Engineer(s)
Song of the Year = Award for SONG, goes to songwriter

Green Day- The Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Ok, I know what you're thinking. Joe John, are you doing that music snob thing again? But look at who it beat out...
  • Mariah Carey- We Belong Together
  • Gorillaz- Feel Good Inc.
  • Kanye West f/ Jamie Foxx- Golddigger
  • Gwen Stefani- Hollaback Girl
Now, in looking at that list...can you honestly justify this song winning? "Boulevard" isn't innovative in any way. It's barely even catchy, and is not even the best work of Green Day. I will still be friends with you if you like this song, but do you really think it's Grammy-worthy? I certainly hope I'm not walking a lonely road on this one. And no...despite it's ass-shaking goodness, I don't think "Hollaback Girl" deserved this either.

Thankfully, good ol' Kelly Clarkson won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Dangerously, Beyonce beat out her own former group's "Cater 2 U" for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals with the help of Stevie Wonder.

Atomically, Mimi and Kanye also brought home some well-deserved grammies, but U2 robbed them both of Album of the Year.

Seriously, the real loser here is Gwen Stefani, who got NOTHING despite 5 nominations.

See more winners here. Your opinions? I have to confess that I missed the show and all the juicy acceptance speeches and performances.

I would like to thank all the little people,
Joe John
