So I finally got my ass to NYC to see Dog Sees God (website), a play featuring Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie) as Charlie Brown in his teenage years. It was fantastic, but surprisingly dark. If you're in the area, I encourage your ass to go see this show.
WARNING: possible spoilers included in this review
Dog Sees God is an emotional rollercoaster ride. This show covers almost any issue possible-- bullying, teenage insecurities, homophobia/hate crimes, heartbreak, obsessive compulsive disorder, incest, sexual experimentation, suicide, drug use, witchcraft, and...er, pyromania? And I probably left out a few. It's like an entire season of Degrassi: The Next Generation in an hour and a half. Except here's the twist...It's adapted from Charles Schulz's Peanuts comics after the death of Snoopy. None of the character names are used for fear of copyright laws...except for Marcy. No one ever cared about Marcy.
